Abdullah Nures was a Turkish Cypriot businessman and a major Conservative Party donor.
Biography[]
Abdullah Nures was born in Northern Cyprus to a Turkish Cypriot family, and he became a wealthy businessman. Nures often spent time in Britain due to his business interests, and he was a major donor to the Conservative Party. He later befriended Prime Minister Francis Urquhart's wife Elizabeth McCullough, and, through her, he convinced the Prime Minister to assist with arbitrating a maritime boundary dispute in favor of the Turks. Urquhart agreed to appoint Clive Watling as the presiding judge of the arbitration panel, and the Turks won the disputed area, which included a large quantity of oil.
