Doris Jones is a seventeen-term former Congresswoman who represented Texas's 30th district and emerged as an ally to President Francis Underwood during his presidency.
Biography[]
After 34 years of serving in Congress, Jones plans on retiring before the 2014 midterm elections and giving her seat to her daughter Celia Jones. She is approached by First Lady Claire Underwood with a plan to run for her seat during the midterm elections in place of her daughter in return for funding for a breast cancer clinic in her district, for which she has been fighting for many years. The clinic would be a VA expansion open to the general public financed by federal money. When Frank becomes aware of this plan, he announces that he would be working with the concerned governmental departments and congressmen to support the clinic as a snub to Claire during his 2016 State of the Union address.
She enjoys a good personal and working relationship with Frank. However, when a picture of his father with a KKK Klansman emerges, she declines to publicly support him.
