
Evanghelos Passolides was a Greek Cypriot man whose brothers Georgios and Euripides were murdered by Francis Urquhart on his tour of duty in Cyprus in 1956. He attended to kill Urquhart in 2003 to avenge them, but was killed alongside Urquhart during the assassination of Francis Urquhart.

Evanghelos Passolides' brothers, Georgios and Euripides, were murdered by Francis Urquhart on his tour of duty in Cyprus in 1956. He and his daughter Maria Passolides later moved to London and began investigating the deaths of Georgios and Euripides. In 2003, he recognises Prime Minister Urquhart as the soldier who killed them. He asks his daughter Maria to investigate while secretly considering taking vengeance on Urquhart.
At the unveiling of the Margaret Thatcher memorial, on the day when Urquhart surpasses her record, Evanghelos entered the crowd carrying a pistol and approached the prime minister, aiming to kill him to avenge his brothers, but was killed alongside Urquhart by a sniper in Corder's service during the assassination of Francis Urquhart.

- In the novel, Francis Urquhart allows himself to be killed by Evanghelos Passolides, martyring himself in the process by pushing his wife out of the way and saving her life. Just before Urquhart died, Evanghelos was shot and killed by Corder. In the TV miniseries, Evanghelos intended to assassinate Urquhart but was killed alongside Urquhart by a sniper in Corder's services.
