Henry Ponsonby was appointed Cabinet Secretary to Prime Minister Francis Urquhart during the 1990s, managing his cabinet for him. He informed the PM's wife, Elizabeth McCullough, about an assassination attempt on Urquhart by some drunken teenagers on the motorway, telling her that the attackers were youths who were not model citizens, and not terrorists.
