Sarah Harding was the personal assistant of Prime Minister Francis Urquhart. She was killed in an apparent Provisional IRA bombing in 1993.

History[]

Sarah Harding was educated at Oxford University, she married an economics don. She left an academic position at Cambridge to work for a polling company.

She was a pro-free market Tory, and she was hired as Prime Minister Francis Urquhart's personal assistant in 1993 due to his interest in her high intelligence. She was soon favored over Chief Whip Tim Stamper (alienating Stamper), and she began an affair with Urquhart, putting a strain on her marriage.

She was later abducted by some homeless thugs and told to ask about Mattie Storin, Urquhart's previous mistress, who had been killed by him for knowing too much. She met with freelance journalist John Krajewski, Storin's former colleague, but Krajewski's body was found in a wasteland, found shot execution-style in the head.

Stamper, by now a rival of Urquhart, passed on information about Storin's murder to Harding, who then sought to meet the monarch and inform on Urquhart. However, Harding's car exploded while she was en route to meet with the monarch's secretary Chloe Carmichael, and her death was interpreted as a Provisional IRA attack.
