Coronation of the King's Son
After the death of his grandmother Queen Elizabeth II, he became Prince of Wales and heir to the throne after his father became the newly crowned King. During his father's short reign, he spent most of his time with his Mother at Kinsington Palace. When his father abdicated the throne after being pressured to do so by Prime Minister Francis Urquhart, he succeeded to the British throne thereafter. He attended the state funeral of former prime minister Margaret Thatcher in 2001, and unveiled a statue of her in 2003; Urquhart was assassinated during this event.
